M.I.A.
It has almost been two weeks since I have been on here! Holy moly.
I was hoping to have been moved out of this wretched place by now, but it seems other things have come into play. We were unable to get a home loan and redid our finances and found a major glitch in Derek's old finances showing we could only afford half of what he thought we could in rent. So we had to lower our rent standards back to $700, at the most of what we could afford a month (it definitely sucks). So we were unable to find anything in the Irmo area and didn't want to move into an apartment, so we are staying here. And the last time Derek talked to our landlord he told us he was selling this house, plus land, for only $34,000. O.o Now, my first thoughts were, "YOU WANT TO STAY HERE FOR A FEW YEARS!? Are you crazy!?" Lol. But it has been a few days and I have grown accustom to the thought. I mean, our neighbors aren't the best people, but if we put up a privacy fence we can at least keep their animals out of our yard. :) Other than that, this house ain't so bad, I suppose. It definitely needs a lot of tlc. Derek wants to try and fix my credit up enough and thinks we can get the loan in my name alone and get the $8,000 credit at the end of the year... which will help us out. And with it being such a small house loan, it would still be within our $600 to $700 budget. Plus we are in a growing community and after the market goes back up, we can definitely sell this for a pretty penny if we fix it up some. It has close to an acre of land (even though it is sloped horribly).
My parents are also still living with us, another reason why we are still kind of here. We are trying to help them out some. It'll allow them to get back on their feet.
We went to the car meet this past weekend as well. Nikki got to drive as she is for the last time. I am hoping to start tearing her down and apart over the next few weeks. :) And we should have photos of that if anyone is really interested, if not, I won't post them on here.
Sean is doing good. I shaved his mohawk off today. Going to let it go shaggy now. He almost didn't want me to do it, but then was okay with it. I don't want to pressure him into a certain hair cut or anything, but he doesn't seem to care too much. My hair is still blue, with a slight green tint to it. I accidentally got it wet in a pool (chlorine). Gah. I am going to have my mom try and fix it tonight.
But I am off to cook some dinner!

I miss you, dear.
Are we still on for the 20th roadtrip? What are the yearly property taxes for the house? You have to make sure that you can either pay part of that monthly or that you will be able to save up enough by the end of the year. There's also the private mortgage insurance if you don't have a down payment. It adds up so quickly. Our mortgage payment is only $700 something but we are going to be paying just over $1100 a month with everything added in. We have also had to pay almost $2000 out of pocket for earnest money, option fee, house inspection and the appraisal fee. So don't get too ahead of yourself, I would hate for you to get started and realize that it's not working.
Blue green hair is awesome though.
If you purchased the home for $34,000, you would only get $3400 for the tax credit. It is 10% of the home price up to $8000.
I would also caution you to make sure it is some where you are willing to live for a lot of years. In order to make it worth your investment, you generally have to live there for 5 years. Also, you never know what the housing market will be when you want to sell. You may not be able to find a buyer.
(Im not trying to discourage you from buying this house, I just dont want you to get stuck in something that you really dont want. Or thinking that you will have more money than what you will actually get.)
I agree with Tammi. Nothing wrong with blue green hair!!
@BrokenHeartedAirlines@xanga - I miss you too and yes we are!
@TornadoChaser - @der_lila_Stern@xanga - Thanks guys. I was trying to think positively of staying here. :) I know there are tons of things we have to take into consideration (you definitely named a few I forgot about, so thanks). I am going to call the landlord (the wife) on Monday to talk with her. I want to make sure everything is covered and that we aren't paying more than $700 a month. And we are definitely willing to stay here a little while until we can get our money back out of this house. The school district we're in is a great one, but I just wanted to get out of the boonies, that is why we were trying to move. I just want to try and stay optimistic, haha.
